Ultrasound-guided breast biopsy
The ultrasound-guided punch biopsy or vacuum-assisted biopsy has especially proven reliable in clarifying focal lesions. After administering a local anaesthesia, tissue is removed in sterile conditions guided by ultrasound; the sample is subsequently subjected to a histological evaluation. A fine-needle biopsy can also be performed for clarifying cysts and lymph nodes.
